Week 0: Why I'm building in public
Starting a weekly log of what I build, what breaks, and what I learn. Here's the plan and the rules I'm holding myself to.
- #meta
- #building-in-public
Every week I build things, learn things, and forget most of it by the next Monday. This site fixes that. I'm calling it Zero Days Off: part zero-day joke, part promise.
Starting now, I'm posting one log a week: what I shipped, what went sideways, and what I'd do differently. The point isn't to look polished. The point is to make progress visible, to me first and to anyone else second.
The rules
- One post a week. Short is fine. Skipped is not.
- Show the work. Screenshots, code, numbers, mistakes.
- Nothing confidential. I talk about what I learned, never about anything that isn't mine to share.
- Ship over polish. A rough post on Friday beats a perfect one never.
How this site works
The site is a Next.js app. Every post is a single Markdown file in a GitHub repo. When a new file lands, Vercel rebuilds and the post is live about a minute later.
The fun part: I'm building a Claude skill that does the publishing for me. At the end of the week it asks me what I worked on, drafts the post in my voice, scrubs anything sensitive, and waits for my approval before pushing it live.
my week → skill drafts post → I approve → commit → liveThat skill is the first real project I'll be logging here.
What's next
- Finish the publishing skill and use it for Week 1
- Fill in the projects page
- Keep the streak alive
See you next week.
